Job Title: Dental Assistant - Learning each of the following 3 roles: Chairside Assistant, Sterilization Technician, and Lab Liaison Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team, who will primarily be responsible for chairside assistance during dental procedures, as well as managing sterilization protocols and serving as a liaison between the dental lab and clinical team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and possess strong communication skills to ensure the smooth operation of our dental practice. Responsibilities: Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including but not limited to restorative, endodontic, periodontal, orthodontic, and surgical treatments. Prepare treatment rooms for patient procedures by ensuring all necessary instruments, materials, and equipment are readily available. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines. Provide chairside support by passing instruments, maintaining a clear field of vision, and anticipating the needs of the dentist. Sterilization Technician: Oversee and manage sterilization processes to ensure compliance with infection control protocols and regulations. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment using autoclaves and other appropriate methods. Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed. Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and perform routine spore testing to ensure efficacy. Lab Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between the dental clinic and external dental laboratories. Communicate with dental lab technicians regarding case specifications, including impressions, prosthetics, and other dental appliances. Track the progress of lab cases, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of fabricated dental restorations. Coordinate with the administrative team to manage lab invoices and payments, as well as tracking expenses related to lab work. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program or relevant certification preferred. Proven experience working as a dental assistant in a clinical setting, with proficiency in chairside assisting techniques and dental terminology. Knowledge of sterilization protocols and infection control guidelines, with previous experience in sterilization procedures preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and external vendors. Proficiency in using dental software for patient charting, scheduling, and communication. Willingness to participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on industry best practices and regulations.
