Job description We are looking for a Dental Hygienist for our family practice to help treat patients and promote good oral health practices. Duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth, and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. We are a steady practice and pride ourselves on the connections we form with the patients, and the area we serve. Responsibilities Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination Knowledge of proper sterilization techniques Conduct initial mouth screenings and check health history Identify common oral conditions like gingivitis, periodontitis, and carious lesions. Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride) Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques) Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures Take X-rays Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases Maintain documentation and charts on each patient Monitor supplies Skills Proven experience as Registered Dental Hygienist In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA) Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment Outstanding communication skills A patient and friendly personality Attention to detail Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job Diploma in Dental Hygiene Valid license to practice in Virginia Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Salary: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible schedule Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Paid time off
