Let's Go Team

Are you looking for that special someone? The one that gets your jokes, understands to give you space when you’re crabby, and brightens your Monday through Friday with a cheery hello?

Is there a void in your life? Do you keep looking for the one that can finish your chart notes but somehow keep finding people that can’t even show up?

The employment game is hard. When you think it’s time to “swipe right,” suddenly, the match falls apart. Just like in love, finding the perfect job/employee is tough. Too often, we rush in and ignore the warning signs because we are desperate for a team member or a paycheck. Like in any relationship, it’s important to remember that it’s about being compatible with your boss, coworkers, and the working environment that leads to workplace success.

1. Know Yourself

The first step to finding that perfect someone is understanding yourself and what you need to thrive. The free assessments on DentalPost are there to get you started. The DISC personality and emotional intelligence tests can give insight into who you are and how you communicate with others. The values assessment will aid you in identifying your personal and professional values. Understanding these will go a long way to finding someone who compliments them. And the workplace culture assessment can give clues to what types of work environment you work best in. These assessments are essential for both the job seeker and the employer because we are looking for the right fit!

2. Understand Your Office Culture

Just like we need to understand ourselves, it’s important to understand the work environment to ensure a good match. After all, you’ll spend lots of time together, so let’s make it well spent. Before you put that “Help Wanted” sign out, get to know the personality styles of those in your office so you can determine where the gaps are. We tend to gravitate to people like us, but in the workplace, having different strengths often helps the office get things done. Have the whole team take the free assessments and discuss them at an office meeting.

3. The Interview Process

Interviewing is just like dating. And oh, are first dates stressful! We want to put our best foot forward and highlight all the wonderful things about us. But where do you even start?  For both job seekers and employers, it’s key to come to the interview ready to impress. Know your DISC traits so you are prepared to discuss strengths and opportunities. Think about what you want with this new partner. Discuss the office values, meet the team, and get a sense of if this could be the one for you.

Finding the perfect match can feel overwhelming at times. Thankfully DentalPost has two free guides to make the process a breeze:
